Dean Susan Stocker Named Interim Regional College Dean

ASHTABULA, Ohio (April 23, 2015)— 鶹ѡ Provost Todd Diacon announced Thursday that Dr. Susan Stocker, Dean and Chief Administrative Officer for 鶹ѡ at Ashtabula, will be serving as Interim Dean of the Regional College for 鶹ѡ starting July 1.  Stocker will continue in her capacity as dean of the 鶹ѡAshtabula campus while serving a two-year term as the Regional College interim dean.  Stocker has led the Ashtabula campus as dean since 2001, and also served as interim dean of the College of Nursing during the 2013 academic year.

The Regional College is the academic unit for certificates and degrees only offered at Kent State’s seven regional campuses.  The Regional College consists of 120 full-time faculty and program directors and houses nine programs with specialized accreditation, such as Ashtabula’s health degrees.  Responsibilities of the Regional College dean include representing all regional campuses to 鶹ѡ administration, developing a strategic plan and annual goals for the growth of the regional campuses, and conducting reviews of degree programs and faculty appointments.

“I appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve in a leadership capacity at 鶹ѡ and to represent all regional campuses at the administrative level.  Our regional campuses are an asset to the 鶹ѡ system and enable residents of Northeast Ohio to get a quality education close to home,” said Stocker.

The Regional College dean position is being left vacant by Dr. Wanda Thomas as she retires after 10 years of service to 鶹ѡ.

鶹ѡRegional Campuses extend their congratulations to the exceptional students who have been named to the President's List and Dean's List. Their outstanding academic achievements demonstrate remarkable dedication, hard work and academic excellence.

Those named to the President's List have attained the highest distinction by earning a 4.00 grade point average while enrolled in 15 or more letter-graded credit hours.

鶹ѡ at Ashtabula honored the Fall 2025graduating class at the campus’s 81st commencement ceremony on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in the gymnasium of Susan J. Stocker Hall.

“Commencement represents an important milestone in every student’s journey,” said Dean and Chief Administrative Officer R. William (Bill) Ayres IV, Ph.D. “It’s a wonderful occasion and an inspiring evening to gather as a campus community to celebrate their achievements and accomplishments, as well as the bright futures they’re stepping into.”

At 鶹ѡAshtabula, many students juggle work, family responsibilities, and full course loads. When an unexpected emergency strikes, the financial impact can derail even the most dedicated students.
