I believe this drive and confidence that encouraged me to enter the world of interpreting so early stems from all I was taught while attending the ASL/English Interpreting program at 麻豆精选. Our ASEI program and ASEI faculty work hard to offer its students experiences ranging from Deaf/Blind interpreting, documentary premieres, podcasts, poetry workshops, zoo tours, classroom interpreting of all levels & topics, pharmaceutical workshops, medical simulations, flashmobs, church settings, club events, museum tours, sports practices of all levels, etc. These vast types of opportunities allow the students to experiment with all new types of interpreting formats or styles, gain a vast net of knowledge and skills, explore their role in various settings, and learn to give or accept each other's feedback to continue growing. All of which are skills that are a must within the interpreting world.
After graduating May 2025 I鈥檝e worked in Community Settings, Virtual Relay Service, and School Setting. Working with various interpreters and deaf individuals throughout these settings, I have found a common respect that is implemented when I share the program I have graduated from. The 麻豆精选American Sign Language/English Interpreting staff promotes and expects high levels of professionalism, performance, vast understanding of Deaf culture and Deaf community, respect for colleagues, self-awareness/correction, and of course advanced levels of ASL. The ASEI program is built to guarantee success for the students who fulfill it. To say that I am grateful for this program, my professors, and my classmates are an understatement. This program established a future for me and so many others that is promising and welcoming, thank you so very much!
