EHHS Doctoral Alumna Receives AERA Award

Congratulations to Joanna Dickert, Ph. D., the 2022 recipient of American Educational Research Association's Advanced Studies of National Databases Special Interest Group Dissertation award.

Previously a student in the School of Foundations, Leadership and Administration, Dickert's dissertation is titled "An Examination of the Effects of Participation in High-impact Practices Using Propensity Score Analysis with Structural Equation Modeling."

The national competition included applicants who graduated between Jan. 1,  through Dec. 31, 2021, and used national or international databases in their dissertation study.

AERA is a national research society that strives to advance knowledge about education, encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and promote the use of research to improve education and serve the public good.

Meet Monica Fencil, a junior exercise science major with a concentration in pre-physical therapy, from Butler, Pennsylvania. Fencil鈥檚 interest in the health field began early, shaped by being surrounded by family members who worked in healthcare.  

Science Education Professor Lisa Borgerding was named the 2026 ASTE Outstanding Science Teacher Educator at the organization's annual conference in Chicago.

Jennifer Visker, associate lecturer in the School of Health Sciences, received the Bronze Teaching Recognition Award for Instructing Speech-Language Pathology Students in the Use of AI for Clinical Writing.
