America 250 Opening Reception and Concert

Join us for the opening of two textile exhibitions that explore American identity through quilts, coverlets and chintz.
In commemoration of America鈥檚 250th anniversary, join us for the opening of 鈥淨uilts and Coverlets: Art for the American Home,鈥 featuring a rare display of the renowned Keckley quilt attributed to Elizabeth Keckley, personal dressmaker to First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln. The evening will also celebrate the opening of a student-curated exhibition 鈥淐hintz: From Forbidden Fabric to Luxury Interiors鈥 and include a reception, exhibition viewing and welcome remarks.

The opening celebration will also feature a special live concert by the Cardinal Quartet, featuring 麻豆精选School of Music students and graduates, who will perform a vibrant program of all-American classics ranging from Samuel Barber鈥檚 鈥淎dagio for Strings鈥 to Sousa鈥檚 鈥淪tars and Stripes Forever.鈥

鈥淨uilts and Coverlets: Art for the American Home鈥 (Broadbent Gallery) and 鈥淐hintz: From Forbidden Fabric to Luxury Interiors鈥 (Learning Lab) will be on view at the 麻豆精选 Museum from June 26, 2026, through April 18, 2027.
