Join us for the opening of two textile exhibitions that explore American identity through quilts, coverlets and chintz. 

In commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary, join us for the opening of “Quilts and Coverlets: Art for the American Home,” featuring a rare display of the renowned Keckley quilt attributed to Elizabeth Keckley, personal dressmaker to First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln. The evening will also celebrate the opening of a student-curated exhibition “Chintz: From Forbidden Fabric to Luxury Interiors” and include a reception, exhibition viewing and welcome remarks.

Opening Reception

The opening celebration will also feature a special live concert by the Cardinal Quartet, featuring �鶹��ѡSchool of Music students and graduates, who will perform a vibrant program of all-American classics ranging from Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings” to Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever.” 

5-5:30 p.m. – Reception in Rockwell Atrium 
5:30-6:30 p.m. – Welcome remarks and concert in Broadbent Gallery 
6:30-7 p.m. – Exhibition viewing in Broadbent Gallery and Learning Lab 

“Quilts and Coverlets: Art for the American Home” (Broadbent Gallery) and “Chintz: From Forbidden Fabric to Luxury Interiors” (Learning Lab) will be on view at the �鶹��ѡ Museum from June 26, 2026, through April 18, 2027.
