Attending �鶹��ѡStark in the fall, Canton teen once questioned future.

Aireanna Tyson didn’t always see college in her future. Growing up in Canton’s inner city, she knew what it was like to feel far from the classroom — where real life could pull your focus away from school, and college felt like something for someone else.

“I wasn’t really going to classes. I wasn’t doing homework,” she said. “It hit me that if I didn’t buckle down, I wouldn’t even graduate.”

�鶹��ѡ at Stark has announced the President's and Dean's Lists for Spring 2025.

President’s List requirements include a 4.00 grade point and at least 15 letter-graded credit hours completed by the end of the semester.

Dean’s List requirements include a 3.40 grade point average or higher and at least 12 letter-graded credit hours completed by the end of the semester.

On May 10, 2025, �鶹��ѡ at Stark proudly hosted its 52nd Spring Commencement Ceremony at the campus’s Conference Center, celebrating the academic achievements of students who earned associate and bachelor’s degrees. The event marked a pivotal milestone in the lives of 104 graduates and served as a testament to their perseverance, dedication and academic excellence.

After nearly four decades at �鶹��ѡ, Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., is retiring from her role as dean and chief administrative officer of �鶹��ѡ at Stark and �鶹��ѡ at Salem. Her retirement on June 30, 2025, marks the conclusion of a career dedicated to education, community and the arts.

Reflecting on her time at Kent State, Seachrist said, “�鶹��ѡhas been more than a workplace — it’s been home. The people here have shaped my career, my life and my sense of purpose. I will always carry that with me.”

This weekend marks a significant milestone for �鶹��ѡ’s Regional Campus system as more than 1,700 graduates are honored in commencement ceremonies across Northeast Ohio. On campuses spanning from Lake Erie to the Ohio River, these celebrations highlight the academic achievements and work readiness of its learners.

Kent State’s Regional Campuses were well-represented at the during which Olivia Rice, a psychology student from �鶹��ѡSalem, earned a first-place ranking for her research poster. The conference was held earlier this month at Ohio University in Chillicothe.

Rice received the E. Ted Bunn Student Excellence Award-Best Poster for her research project titled “Undergraduate Student Benefits: Research Within Community Outreach.”

While more than 90% of Ohio’s wetlands have vanished over the past few centuries, a new nature docuseries aims to show there is hope — and a lot of work being done to protect what remains.

Are you looking to dip your toes in the expanding field of microchip manufacturing? �鶹��ѡ is offering two free micro-credential courses this spring to high school juniors and seniors, as well as industry professionals, fresh starters, educators, upskillers, reskillers and those excited about the world of semiconductors. The courses – Introduction to Semiconductor Devices and Sand to Silicon – are primarily online, with one planned in-person lab during the semester.
