Foggy days on campus are a sign that warmer temperatures and springtime weather are on the way.

Nearly 10% of all �鶹��ѡ undergraduates are participating in the groundbreaking �鶹��ѡStudent Life Study, providing the university with concrete information about what it’s like to be a modern-day college student.

Meet Tatiana Placer, a graduate student pursuing her master’s in architecture and design at �鶹��ѡ. Placer was born in Germany on a U.S. military base and was raised mostly in Orlando, Florida. Growing up in a Puerto Rican household, her upbringing was deeply rooted in the Puerto Rican diaspora.  

Kent State’s Career Exploration and Development fair connects students with leaders from Disney, Rock Entertainment and more, who share words of wisdom for students.

Meet Lettie Friona, a senior integrated social studies major with a concentration in history and minors in classics and mild to moderate special education from Steubenville, Ohio, whose leadership positions have helped shape her experience at Kent State.  

Delrecco Gillespie, senior professional studies major and member of Kent State’s men's basketball team, was recently featured in a recent NCAA article that detailed how setbacks like injury and grief fueled Gillespie’s drive to play as if it were his last chance to be on the court.  

For many �鶹��ѡ students, college is about more than just getting a degree. It is about building something meaningful to take with them beyond graduation. Sometimes it’s a well of knowledge; sometimes it’s their first stream of revenue. Student entrepreneurs across campus are turning ideas into income. This is the story of five �鶹��ѡstudent entrepreneurs. 

Many students walk past the Pepsi Leadership Center without thinking twice about it, unaware that inside, Fridays are more than just a celebration of the end of the week; they're being redefined. No business attire. No speeches. Just music and meaningful conversations defining what leadership looks like on campus.  

In the middle of this winter at Kent State, first-year finance major Mason Pranevich realized just how cold it could get and how unprepared some students were for the weather. Pranevich used his own savings to purchase 200 pairs of winter gloves to help keep his fellow Golden Flashes warm. 

In December 2025, Francis Rubagumya, 37, walked across the stage at Kent State's commencement with a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language — and a plan to take every lesson he had learned back to the country he loves Rwanda.

Meet Lily Stenroos, a member of the Honors College pursuing an environmental studies degree with minors in sustainability, environmental justice and political science, from Mayfield Village, Ohi0, whose academic path was forged from deep relationships between the natural world and humans.

A �鶹��ѡstudent organization sponsored a puppy kissing booth on Risman Plaza to celebrate Valentine's Day and raise awareness for a very special cause.

Two �鶹��ѡ undergraduates brought national-level research experience to campus this year as featured presenters at the 2026 Exercise Science Summit. Liliana St. Germain and Olivia Snedeker delivered their work after using performance and biometric data collected from the �鶹��ѡwomen’s soccer team.

The college decision involves more than choosing a major and a campus. It's an investment in a future career, and at �鶹��ѡ, that future takes shape long before graduation day through internship opportunities that transform students into working professionals.

Northeast Ohio’s unpredictable and sometimes extreme weather conditions provide excellent training scenarios for �鶹��ѡstudent pilots.

First-year student Johan Kristoff will be among nine �鶹��ѡ students who will embark on a groundbreaking spring break journey to Florence, Italy, marking the first international experience designed specifically for students to discover their academic path. 

Marcello Fantoni, Ph.D., vice president for global education and interim dean of the Honors College at �鶹��ѡ, was recently featured on WAKR Radio’s “Ray Horner Morning Show” to discuss the education-abroad programs, student support and his life-changing experiences abroad.

The �鶹��ѡ Black Alumni Chapter and Black United Students are sponsoring a day-long celebration in honor of Black History Month, which was founded at the Kent Campus.

Students experienced a taste of Italy with the grand opening of Sapori inside Eastway Dining on Feb. 2.

�鶹��ѡ’s Glauser School of Music is receiving statewide recognition as the �鶹��ѡWind and Flute Ensembles were selected to perform at the 2025 Ohio Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference.
