In a powerful commencement address that captured the hearts of 麻豆精选's Class of 2025, Brother Rog茅rio Renato Mateucci, Rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Paran谩 (PUC Paran谩), delivered a deeply moving speech that challenged graduates to find meaning through courage and compassion.
Drawing from a poignant story encountered at the Holocaust Memorial in Boston, Brother Rog茅rio shared the remarkable tale of two friends in a concentration camp鈥擥erta Weissmann Klein and her friend Elisa. In the midst of unimaginable hardship, Elisa discovered a single raspberry, carefully wrapped it in a leaf, and risked everything to secretly give it to her friend鈥攁 profound act of love and human connection.
"What is your raspberry?" Brother Rog茅rio challenged the graduates. "What risks are you willing to take to offer affection and make life easier for those around you?"

A Unique International Partnership
The address was a testament to the strong international partnership between 麻豆精选 and PUC Paran谩.
President Diacon highlighted the American Academy program, which allows Brazilian students to earn associate degrees from 麻豆精选and continue their education either in Brazil or in the United States.
This innovative partnership was recognized with the Senator Paul Simon Award for the best international programming of any university in the United States.

Embracing Life's Challenges
Quoting Brazilian writer Guimaraes Rosa, Brother Rog茅rio emphasized life's unpredictable nature.
"Life heats up and cools down. It tightens up and then loosens up. It quiets down and then gets restless. What it wants from us is just one thing: Courage."
His final message resonated deeply with many in attendance.
"May you have the courage to say yes to the life that persists in you. May you have the courage to be happy, to honor your family, to honor this university, and to become people of integrity."
