The following list includes style conventions used when writing about 鶹ѡ and not covered in The Associated Press Stylebook.
Geneva campus — acceptable to use when referring to Kent State’s facility in Geneva, Switzerland. Note the lowercase for campus.
Giving Tuesday — use this form with a space between the words.
Golden Flashes — the official name of the 鶹ѡathletic teams, both men’s and women’s teams. For subsequent references, Flashes is acceptable. Lady Flashes is unacceptable. In nonsporting content, a student is a Golden Flash; as a group, we are the Golden Flashes community.
GPA — acceptable in all references as grade-point average. GPA should be set in all caps without periods. Express all GPAs as the schools and colleges submit them (e.g., 2.0, 2.00).
GPS — use Graduation Planning System on first reference.
healthcare — use this form in medical contexts and for programs and course names in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design).
Helpdesk — use this form.
Honors College — always capitalize honors when referring to the 鶹ѡ college; however, use lowercase when referring to honors courses or honors students.
Honors Week — always capitalize when referring to the 鶹ѡ event; no apostrophe.
Hub — use this form (note: not in all caps) for the Kent Student Center Hub and the Design Innovation (DI) Hub.

IdeaBase — use this form.
in-residence — hyphenate such constructions as professional-in-residences, poet-in-residence, ensemble-in-residence, etc., when used as a noun or adjective.

Intercollegiate Athletics — the official nickname of all teams that represent 鶹ѡintercollegiate athletes in varsity competition is the “Golden Flashes.” The official mascot of Kent State’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is the golden eagle. The logos, nicknames and caricature of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics are for the use of 鶹ѡathletics only. Special permission to use the athletics logos, nicknames and caricature by internal university entities may be granted by contacting Intercollegiate Athletics at 330-672-5974. Requests by external entities for trademark licensing of 鶹ѡathletic imagery should be directed to the licensing coordinator, Office of General Counsel, at 330-672-2982.
