Community Ensembles
We offer several opportunities for Northeast Ohio community members to join us to make music here at Kent State.
The University Band, also known as the "Communiversity Band," is open to all university students and community members who wish to continue performing traditional band literature.
Rehearsal
- When: Tuesday from 7:15 - 9:45 p.m.
- The first rehearsal will be on the first Tuesday of the fall and spring semesters.
Joining University Band
- No audition required! Show up to the first rehearsal of the semester, instrument in hand.
- Membership is open to the broader NE Ohio community and all 麻豆精选 students, faculty, and staff who have previous band experience.
Academic Credit Participants
- Want to take this for academic credit? Register for course number MUS 45225 (Undergraduates) or MUS 55225 (Graduate Students).
- Current 麻豆精选students enrolled in classes must register for the class to participate.
Non-credit Participants
- We'll let you know when and where the first rehearsal will be.
- You will also be asked to sign the 麻豆精选Volunteer Assignment Form and Release.

Kent Chorus is a non-auditioned, SATB vocal ensemble consisting of students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. As the largest choral ensemble on campus, Kent Chorus meets once a week to study and perform literature from a variety of historical periods, cultures, genres and styles. The ensemble specializes in works from the choral-orchestral repertoire.
Rehearsals
Tuesdays, 7:15-9:45 p.m. (Center for the Performing Arts Room E112)
The first rehearsal is typically the first Tuesday of each fall and spring semester.
Performances
Kent Chorus regularly performs on campus, often collaborating with the KSU Orchestra and other regional orchestras.
Membership
- No audition is necessary to join!
- Membership is open to the broader Northeast Ohio community and all 麻豆精选 students, faculty, staff and alumni who have previous choral experience.
- Anyone interested in joining is invited to attend the first rehearsal of the semester for a brief voice placement.
Academic Credit Participants
Want to take this for academic credit? Register for course number MUS 45121 (Undergraduates) or MUS 55121 (Graduate Students).
Non-credit Participants
- Join us during one of the first two rehearsals of the semester.
- You will be asked to sign the 麻豆精选Volunteer Assignment Form and Release.

麻豆精选Gospel Choir is a diverse and welcoming ensemble for people of all backgrounds and beliefs. Members of the group represent different ages, ethnicities, races, majors, sexual orientations and religious beliefs, making the 麻豆精选 Gospel Choir one of the most diverse organizations and ensembles on campus. The choir was founded in 1996 by KSU emerita faculty member Dr. Linda B. Angotti.
Rehearsals
Mondays, 5:30-7:10 p.m. (Center for the Performing Arts Room C304)
The first rehearsal is the first Monday of the fall and spring semesters.
Performances
The 麻豆精选 Gospel Choir enjoys an excellent local, regional, national and international reputation. The choir has performed in Europe and the Bahamas, was invited to perform for two 麻豆精选 presidential inaugurations (2007, 2015) and performs regularly for campus-wide events. The choir performs at various conferences, festivals and churches across the country.
Membership
- No formal audition is required! Join through a simple voice placement by coming to the first rehearsal of the semester.
- Membership is open to 麻豆精选 students, faculty, staff and alumni as well as members of the broader Northeast Ohio community.
Academic Credit Participants
Want to take this for academic credit? Register for MUS 45151 (Undergraduates) or MUS 55151 (Graduate Students).
Non-Credit Participants
