For nearly 110 years, Mercy Health has addressed the growing needs of the Mahoning Valley, which includes the city of Warren and its surrounding communities. Mercy Health has been evaluating ways to meet the increasing healthcare needs of those living in Trumbull County, delivering on its promise of providing care when and where people live and work. As part of this commitment, Mercy Health has announced the future development of land adjacent to the �鶹��ѡ at Trumbull Campus. 

The Division for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion offers anti-racism training on Kent State’s campus, which consists of a series of sessions that include anti-racism workshops, Cultural Competency Basics & Awareness, Understanding Unconscious Bias, Leadership, Mindset & Care, Learning How to Be an Ally, and various additional topics on equity, inclusion, microaggressions and diversity.

Alumnus Andrew Konya, '10, graduated from �鶹��ѡ with a degree in physics and started chiseling away at what is now his company, Remesh, in 2013. Remesh, has gone on to receive  to continue expanding and creating solutions.

Throughout the summer, the College of Podiatric Medicine (CPM) raised scholarship dollars in the spirit of Alumni Reunion Weekend that culminated in the announcement of this year’s four scholarship award winners.

In 2019, a team of researchers in Kent State’s Department of Anthropology published its “prize-winning” research article titled in the Journal of Archaeological Science. �鶹��ѡ psychology major Tanner Noble has been struggling with cancer for five of his last six years, but things changed dramatically for him with the approved use of a new treatment for teenagers and adults.

The �鶹��ѡMuseum’s newest exhibition, “Fortuna: Designs by Vincent Quevedo,” marks the first new exhibition for the museum since its reopening in August and is on display now. It features works by award-winning designer and School of Fashion Associate Professor Vincent Quevedo.

The �鶹��ѡ Board of Trustees congratulated �鶹��ѡPresident Todd Diacon and university leaders on increased retention and graduation rates, as well as a strong Class of 2024, as official fall 2020 enrollment figures were shared at the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Five students from �鶹��ѡ at Geauga distinguished themselves as writing award winners during Spring Semester 2020. Each was a student of Bonnie Shaker, Ph.D., assistant professor of English. While �鶹��ѡGeauga students have won a total of 16 awards from 2014 through 2020 in different categories, five winners in one year is a notable achievement.

To celebrate Constitution Day, �鶹��ѡ Libraries is offering a virtual screening of the documentary "And She Could Be Next" on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion that will include the filmmakers and �鶹��ѡfaculty members.

When searching for a job in her final semester as a fashion merchandising major this past spring, Jenna Palek realized that during a global pandemic, very few companies would be hiring. Undaunted, she told herself “I simply will not take ‘no’ as an answer,” knowing “I was capable of finding not only a job but a great one.”

Two recent incidents involving the painting of racist messages on the Rock located on Front Campus, coupled with the series of tragic national events this year involving the shootings of Black Americans, serve as glaring evidence that this university and our country need to do better when addressing racism and violence against Black Americans.

At Kent State, our core values of respect and kindness for all demand that we step up to become part of the conversation that leads to a solution that will dismantle the systemic racism that has plagued our communities throughout history, and our university all too recently.
