As part of Kent State's �鶹��ѡVotes initiative, Flashes across campus are stepping up to help make sure that students are registered to vote, well informed and motivated to cast their ballots in November. 

For Taylor Pierce, her first experience in Kent State’s Columbus Program in State Issues turned out to be more than most people would expect. She spontaneously entered and won a contest. She met Ohio’s governor and lieutenant governor. And, she considered a new career path. Not bad for a few weeks in a new city.

Every year, mid-September to mid-October marks Hispanic Heritage Month. �鶹��ѡ collaborations commemorate the month-long celebration and Hispanic culture, kicking off the celebration was "Voices & Rhythms: A Night of Discussion and Dance."

Attracted by the flexibility to choose her classes and the reputation of Kent State's visual communication design program, Alizee Potrel embarked on a journey that would broaden her personal and professional horizons.

�鶹��ѡ made a splash in professional golf last weekend, with three alumni – Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, and Taylor Pendrith – representing the International team at the recent Presidents Cup in Montreal. 

Students in Kent State's Long Term Care Administration program met with local senior citizens to create a book that shared their life stories. 

It took three years, a move from California to Ohio, and several other bumps in the road. Still, recent �鶹��ѡ graduate Vincent AhSam-Kreiter has achieved his goals of earning a bachelor’s degree, becoming a registered nurse and being a newly commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force.

Students across campus anticipate voting for the first time in a presidential election, prompting a mix of feelings ranging from excitement to anxiety.

Hundreds of �鶹��ѡ students use bikes and scooters to get around the university's two hundred and fifty-three acres of land. With that in mind, keeping your bikes and scooters safe and available to you at any time is extremely important.

Think about a time you finished reading a book that provided a new meaning and connection to you. Now imagine that book that changed and shaped a part of you being banned, unavailable to new readers. The �鶹��ѡ community joined for the fourth annual open mic night Read-In to discuss banning and challenging books.

Returning to pre-pandemic numbers, the 4,252 students that make up the class of 2028 represent 37 states and 35 countries. Together, they form the largest incoming class since 2019 and the eighth largest class in Kent State's 100+ year history.

The Office of Intercultural Student Life, formerly known as International Student Affairs, has a new central location in the Kent Student Center, which has made it more accessible to international students. Along with the new location comes the mission to provide drop-in services for international students.

James Trombka, an access advisor of Kent State’s Student Accessibility Services (SAS), made his directorial debut in December 2023 at Tallmadge Dynamics Community Theater.

Homecoming Weekend at �鶹��ѡcame with a full schedule of events including a parade, alumni activities, a tailgate and a football game at Dix Stadium.

�鶹��ѡ celebrated the grand opening of Crawford Hall on Sept. 27, attended by more than 700 guests, including university leadership, faculty, students, donors, alumni and dignitaries.

A new study aims to answer a critical question: "How can we better and more accurately detect and predict suicide risk?"

The �鶹��ѡ Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on Oct. 2 on the Kent Campus. This special meeting is being called solely for the purpose of enabling trustees to retire into executive session to consider specific topics as provided under Ohio’s “Sunshine Law.”

From the grand opening of Crawford Hall to the big parade, Homecoming 2024 had a little something for everyone!

This year’s Homecoming theme is A Legacy of Leadership. The university recognizes two prestigious student organizations as its Homecoming Parade Grand Marshals: the Undergraduate Student Government, celebrating its 100th anniversary, and Kent Student Ambassadors, celebrating its 40th anniversary.
